Advanced Diploma in Forensic Counselling and Psychotherapy

This specialist Advanced Diploma course has been running for a number of years at the Wealden Institute. It is unique and is designed for those qualified practitioners who wish to continue their professional development to equip them to work with clients involved with the legal process.

The course is offered over eight three day modules (Fri/Sat/Sun) monthly.

The course is open to qualified practitioners (Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and selection to the course is via individual interview and application.

  • nature of forensic counselling and history of treatment
  • psychology of criminal conduct
  • legal process and criminal justice system
  • what works
  • assessment and diagnosis of forensic clients
  • treatment interventions and monitoring treatment
  • report writing for the legal system, court room and cross-examination technique
  • ethics and practice in criminal counselling
